HT Shuts Down 3G Network in Zagreb, Replaces it with 4G and 5G

Hrvatski Telekom plans to shut down its 3G network in the City of Zagreb and its surroundings between July 8 and 12, 2024. This is the second Croatian region following the successful shutdown of the 3G network in Osijek and its surroundings, where the 3G network will be decommissioned in line with HT's sustainable business strategy, accelerating the transition to 4G and 5G technologies.

“The shutdown of the 3G network is a crucial step in HT's commitment to digital transformation. By freeing up frequency resources and capacity, we further enhance 4G and 5G technologies, allowing us to continue providing our customers with the most advanced telecommunications services while improving the user experience. In addition, by focusing on faster and more advanced mobile technologies and services, we create opportunities for further innovation and improved connectivity, which positively impacts societal and economic development,“ HT said in a statement.

Users with 2G or 3G devices without access to 4G and/or 5G technologies can continue using their services through 2G technology, which HT continues to operate, allowing seamless use of calls and SMSs, and data traffic according to 2G technology capabilities. To achieve a significantly better mobile internet experience, they recommend users replace their device with a new 4G and/or 5G device. All users who use newer technology devices with access to 4G and/or 5G technology, and have an older technology SIM card, can replace their SIM card free of charge at any time at Hrvatski Telekom points of sale.
