The European Commission reiterated that, under the Digital Markets Act, Apple must change its policies. The company must allow users to change the default browser on iPads and ensure compatibility with third-party accessories on the tablets’ OS.

The regulator explained that, under the rules, users must also be able to download applications from third-party stores. If the company is found to be in breach of the DMA, the EC will take enforcement action. Regarding accessories, the EC warned the manufacturer was obliged to allow headphones and smart pens to access iPadOS features effectively.

The EC has also opened formal proceedings to assess whether Temu may have breached the Digital Services Act. The Commission is investigating the platform in areas linked to the sale of illegal products, the potentially addictive design of the service, the systems used to recommend purchases to users, as well as data access for researchers.
